Course Overview
This 4-week intensive course is designed for students preparing for the AP Chinese Exam, with a primary focus on writing skills. Those that want a big challenge on improving writing are welcome to join as well. The course will cover:

Through targeted training, high-scoring strategy analysis, timed writing practice, and individualized feedback, students will refine their writing skills, improve their ability to express ideas clearly, and strengthen their cultural knowledge, all essential for success on the AP Chinese Exam.
📌 Course Dates: April 6 – May 4
📌 Class Time: Saturdays, 2:00-4:00 PM PT (Pacific Time)
📌 Homework & Practice: Students should spend 3-4 hours per week on writing assignments, including mock writing tasks and self-revision.

Who Should Take This Course?
✅ Students preparing for the AP Chinese Exam who want to enhance their writing skills quickly or students who would want a challenge in learning to write essays at this level. You’re not required to be registered for the AP Exam in order to take this class.

Are there prerequisites for this course?
At least have taken three years of intermediate to high level Chinese, able to write paragraphs or at least 800 characters, able to converse in Chinese, and ready to review AP Chinese core topics for testing. Native or heritage speakers are welcome to take this course. Please inquire with admissions for further informaiton and approval by emailing: [email protected].

What exactly do you get?
In this course, you'll get full structured feedback for your essay writing and lessons on how to improve flow. Please refer to our sample syllabus for the flow of our course.

How are you different?
We will be providing real hands on step by step essay learning practice. Students will learn techniques and methods for writing longer more elaborate essays and paragraphs targeted towards AP Chinese. Our hands on easily reachable approach will be bar none. You will have access to two dedicated teachers and fast response times.

How do you grade?
We are rigorous in coursework. We focus on iteration and learning from mistakes rather than getting things right the first time. If you do all the work with effort and iterate along the way, students will be able to earn an A.

How do you take the exam?
If your school offers AP, you can ask the AP Coordinator at your high school or neighboring high school to register to take the AP exam at your school or neighboring school. In addition, you can check the AP Course Ledger to find a school near you to take the test.

Will I get a transcript and college credit for this course?
The essay intensive will not get a transcript like the full course for AP Chinese. To earn a full transcript that's transferable, please take the full AP Chinese course instead of the essay intensive.

Will colleges accept the grade I've received?
Motherly Notes AP curriculum is directly approved by the College Board to offer this course. In addition. we are fully accredited by WASC. When applying for college, you can request for an official transcript of the grade and credit you received here to send. The college or university will then evaluate your coursework for applications. This applies to the full AP Level Chinese Course and not the AP Intensive Essay Course.
