What are book clubs?

Book Clubs are structured so that reading is done at home and not in class. When coming to book club discussions, you'll be prepared with what was assigned. You may come for all sessions if you like and you're welcome to bring your siblings from home. Books assigned will be driven by the students as well as the teacher involved.

Purpose: to give a social space to talk about books and topics of interest. It's a place where it's low stress for kids to connect and make friends and have fun in Chinese. In addition, it's a space for kids who would like to read more at home and have friends or a teacher to discuss more about it. It allows for more independent reading time but with discussion support.

Included Levels:

1. Beginner/Lower - note the books in here will be beginner chapter books. It means reading will be hard for total beginners. We advise that your child already knows Zhuyin 注音 before joining. Book titles are posted above so please refer to the book site and sample pages before joining.

2. Middle/Upper - the books will be on third to fifth grade native reading levels. Please look at the books posted above and purchase the books from the Readmoo link. You can see a preview to see the level and if it fits with your child.

Class size: this club is meant to be a club so know that numbers will variate.

Recordings: Recordings will NOT be given and uploaded due to discussion based nature.

Support: Other support such as battle game links, worksheets or review sheets, etc. if given during the session, will be uploaded for you to review.
